Mystery

Here is a song I wrote for no one in particular about 7 or 8 years ago. I resurrected it one evening last year singing songs for Charlotte. It became a song about us. We particularly like the line about only smiling at each other.

Mystery
There’s a star in the sky, spinning
Around the world, falling
As we lay here and wonder
The mystery of it all

Her old man was never around
She said he wasn’t coming back
I knew her after she was married
And even before that

There’s a star in the sky, spinning
Around the world, falling
As we lay here and wonder
The mystery of it all

We didn’t smile at no one else
Only at each other
I know I feel more than I say
Though I can’t find the words to tell her

But no picture can hold the beauty
No eye can tell the story
Only witness but not worthy
Of what time can do

There’s a star in the sky, spinning
Around the world, falling
As we lay here I wonder
How anything happens at all.
